Yes, it is a very wide range of duration, and it is not that it is a random matter, but it depends on a set of factors. In this post we are going to explain the points that will determine the duration of your batteries and we are going to give you a series of tips that will help you prolong their useful life:

Battery size

Depending on the hearing aid model you have, it will use one battery size or another. There are 4 stack sizes and below is a list of the duration of each of them ordered from the smallest stack to the largest:

Hearing aid usage time

The hearing aid, while it is turned on, drains battery. Therefore, the more hours you use the hearing aids, the sooner the battery will be consumed. For this reason, it is recommended to open the battery door when you remove your hearing aids.

Use of bluetooth or other types of connections

Currently, most hearing aids have bluetooth technology, which allows them to be linked to other devices. The use of the bluetooth connection supposes a significant energy consumption for your hearing aids, it is one of the main factors that will determine the duration of the battery.

Sound environment

In a quiet environment, the work that your hearing aid has to do is minimal, and therefore the battery drain will be much less than in a noisy environment, in which the hearing aid is at full capacity capturing thousands of sounds, attenuating noise and focusing all attention on speech.

How batteries are handled

Hearing aid batteries have a Zinc-Air composition. Removing the colored plastic adhesive and in contact with the air, they are activated. Therefore, once said adhesive is removed, it is when the battery cycle begins. For this reason it is recommended not to remove it until the time of use.

In addition, it is also recommended to wait one minute after removing the sticker and before inserting it into the device so that the battery is fully activated and can give maximum performance and longest possible life.

If you have removed the seal by mistake, do not reattach it, as this could damage the battery.

Environment and/or temperature

Both high and low temperatures and humidity are unfavorable conditions that can affect the useful life of the batteries. Ideally, they should be in a place at room temperature, cool and dry.
