How to clean your ears
Poor cleaning of the ears causes a multitude of hearing problems and diseases. Failure to clean your ears properly can lead to permanent hearing loss in the most severe cases. Want to know why good cleaning is so important and how to do it? We'll explain it to you below.
The importance of cleaning your ears
Your ear, like your nose or mouth, is a pathway that directly connects the inside of your body to the outside. The outermost parts are exposed to harmful elements found in the air, which may or may not be of organic origin.
Also the ear generates compounds of waste in the interior and that are expelled by means of the auditory canal. For example, traces of skin, cerumen or pus that may be created inside the ear are removed.
Good ear hygiene removes much of the toxic elements that lodge in the auricle and in the outer ear canal. Doing so periodically minimizes the possibility of contracting some pathologies. A deeper cleaning can also be carried out, but following the guidelines shown below.
How you can clean your ears
The best way to clean your ears is to use a sterile, slightly moistened gauze. Gentle movements clean the pinna and the entrance to the ear canal. Under no circumstances should anything, especially swabs, be inserted into the hole.
If you notice dirt inside the ear, you can go to a pharmacy and get a few drops for cleaning. Drop two or three into the ear, then let the wax soften and finally expel the liquid and impurities by tilting your head to the side where you put the drops.
If the sensation of dirt persists and you lose your hearing, go to an ENT specialist as soon as possible. He or she will evaluate the severity of the obstruction and give you advice. Irrigation or vacuum cleaning is likely to be necessary, treatments that only professionals can apply.
