When we talk about hearing aids, we all imagine the device that is placed in the ear and that helps people with hearing loss hear, but, have you ever stopped to really think about what its components are and how a hearing aid works? How does a hearing aid get sound to people who suffer from hearing loss? That's what this publication is about, today from Claso Audiology we are going to take away that curiosity.

Microphone

It is the component responsible for capturing sound. It collects sound waves and transforms them into electrical impulses. All hearing aids except the invisible in-ear models have two microphones to simulate the pinna and be able to balance the understanding-to-noise ratio, thus being able to adapt more easily to any environment. Invisible hearing aids have a single microphone and take advantage of the ear's own effect.

Processor

Its components transform the electrical signals collected by the microphone into digital signals. Responsible for modifying the information according to the hearing care professional's programming and the needs of the patient.

Auricular

Hearing aids collect information from the processor and convert electrical signals into acoustic signals. It’s responsible for transmitting the amplified sound to the ear. Depending on the hearing aid format, this component can be located inside the ear (intra, RIC) or behind the pinna (BTE).

Power source

For this entire system to work, we need to generate electric current through an energy source. In hearing aids you can currently find some that work with disposable zinc-air batteries and others with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. In this publication that we attach to you, you will be able to find the reasons why you should lean towards one mechanism or another.

These are the main parts that a hearing aid is made of and their usefulness. Could you imagine that all this electronics would fit in such a small device? If you haven't taken the step yet, try them and you will see that it is so!

We hope we have resolved all your doubts and if not you can contact us, it would be a pleasure to resolve them.
