The sun, the heat, the sweat, the salt water of the sea, the sand on the beach, the days spent at the family pool... Will your hearing aids be able to withstand the intensity of summer completely? A summer without sound is not enjoyed in the same way! That is why today, from Claso Audiology, we are going to explain to you everything that has not been explained to you. We are going to tell you our best tricks so that nothing can interfere between you and your hearing aids during the summer.

What protection do hearing aids have?

Hearing aids are usually certified to IP68, which is the best protection for the moment against humidity, dust and water. This certification makes the hearing aids unbreakable against dust and highly resistant to water, so that, as long as exposure to humidity and water is not recurring and prolonged, we can ensure that our hearing aid will not break down due to unforeseen events. Furthermore, if your hearing aid is rechargeable, we have good news for you since breakdowns due to humidity or dust are less recurrent than in battery-operated hearing aids due to the fact that we avoid opening the battery door, which is a possible additional access for the hearing aids to harmful agents.

Submersible hearing aids

The hearing aids Audeo Lumity RL are able to completely eliminate the concern for which you have come to this post. These wonderful hearing aids are the first submersible hearing aids in the world since they have the ability to submerge up to 50 cm under water regardless of whether it is salty or fresh. There is no drop that can resist Lumity RL in summer, or in any other season of the year! Do you want to try them? Make an appointment now at any of our hearing centers.

Dehumidify your hearing aids

While it is true that occasional contact of water with hearing aids should generally not damage them, prolonged and/or recurring contact could. In the same way, in summer we will be more likely to suffer sweat breakdowns due to high temperatures. To eliminate all this accumulation of moisture that is daily degrading your hearing aids, the dehumidifier is the solution. You should use it after removing your hearing aids to go to sleep, so that the next day they will be ready for a new hot day. You can purchase different electric dehumidifiers on our website or disposable dehumidifying tablets. Click on this link to see all the products we make available to you.

Take your blower knob with you

Moisture in your BTE format hearing aids can play tricks on you. A drop of moisture on the inside of the earmold or tube, caused by sweat condensation as a result of the heat, can cause you to stop hearing completely. Therefore, it is necessary that you know of the existence of the blower knobs and its usefulness. To unclog the sound passage of the hearing aids, you only have to separate the soft tube from the ear hook of the hearing aid, insert the tip of the knob through the soft tube and press the knob so that, with the air, it expels the moisture that is blocking the passage sound.

Protect your hearing aids

If your hearing aids are not waterproof, store them in a safe place when you go to the pool or beach to prevent your hearing aids from getting wet. In the hearing centers we have special resistant protective boxes to store your hearing aids and prevent them from getting wet or damaged under any circumstances.

Once you have read this post, you can go out and be sure to enjoy your hearing aids worry-free during your summer vacation, because listening should not have any limitations! Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any doubts. In Claso Audiology we are always ready and happy to assist you.
